Object Description

Electric 'Heartometer' to measure and record blood pressure, pulse rate, heart action and vascular circulation. Comprising of a Bakelite portable cabinet with door mounted on hinges and electrical lead with plug. The door opens to reveal a 'Heartograph', a rotating circular recording graph mounted in the center and 2 pressure sensitive pointers carrying a stylus [filled with either red or green ink] at their free end. Results were printed directly onto the graphs. When not in use, the pointers are lifted away from the graph by wire arms. A draw in the cabinet contains a flexible hosing [for blood pressure armband], a bottle of red and green ink, a box containing vial for motor oil and dropper, a vial containing 3 pen cleaning wires, a bulb for washing out the pens with instruction sheet, an envelope containing a fuse, a sealed envelope containing mouthpiece for vital capacity and an envelope containing cleaning cloth for pens.
